From his upbringing on his family’s Northern Missouri farm to the Agricultural Studies program at Iowa State University, the agriculture industry is the only place Shannon McCoy, Co-owner, ever wanted to be. And 20 years of experience working in ag retail and chemical sales give McCoy a unique perspective. “We’re the only locally owned seed company offering growers this type of package,” says McCoy. “We’re able to go into farmers’ fields and talk to them about the appropriate seed selection and chemistry we’ll be using to optimize their acres.”

Jake Pelham
Jake is owner of CropRite’s Grundy Center location. Pelham has specialized in the seed and crop protection business for 15 years. And in that time he’s learned the value of local seedsmen who understand local acres. “The big seed corporations see farming as a one-size-fits-all business—because they only care about selling seed,” says Pelham. “But CropRite focuses on listening to local growers— understanding their operations, challenges, and goals—and using that knowledge to help them become more profitable.”
John Patterson
John Patterson is owner and manager of CropRite’s Luther location. Patterson was raised on a family farm in central Iowa and has 25 years of ag retail experience. He welcomed his son, Bryce, to the business in early 2022. “We have the attitude that no farm is too large or too small,” says Patterson. “We work with people who farm 100 acres and people who farm 12,000 acres and treat them all the same. We want to provide great service and offer that personal touch.”
